1937 BSA M21 600cc complete and ready to ride.

Two owners from new.

I have owned this machine for the past 10 years. The first owner laid it up in a shed before he died and it sat there for 43 years before I bought from his daughter and restored it in 2006.

1937 was the first year of production for the M20/21. The bike has a 4 speed hand change gearbox. This model was only offered with hand change for 1937 making this a rare machine.

I have the continuation buff log book and most of the tax discs from 1946 to 1963 when the bike was laid up. The bike has its original registration number but this is shown on the V5 as not transferable.

I kept the original appearance during the restoration but converted to 12v electrics to have decent lights.

The frame, forks, mudguards, chaincases, wheel rims, headlamp and pannier boxes were all powder coated when I restored the bike. The wheels were respoked, the engine and magdyno were rebuilt and anything else that needed replacement was replaced.

There is a small scratch on the petrol tank, a result of storing too many bikes in a small garage. The lacquer on the tank also needs a little attention but this is so minor that I can’t get it to show on a photo.
